As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.
Proverbs 27:17
Jesus gave a very clear mission, the Great Commission," for His Church. He said in Matthew 28:19-20, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age." How we are to accomplish disciple making? Through relationships. Jesus gave us His Great Commandment in Matthew 22:37-40, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself." We believe that Small Groups are the best tool to offer an environment where making disciples can happen in the church.
Questions about Small Group
What is a Small Group?
Small groups are the place where the church can live out the Great Commission. In Matthew 28:18-20 Jesus said: “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
Small Groups are where people can grow and build real authentic relationships. It becomes a safe place where people are not afraid to let down their walls and be open and transparent: A place where it’s OK to have struggles and hang-ups as we seek to find answers in God’s Word!
Our goal is for each member to do two things well. Love God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind and the second is equally important: Love your neighbor as yourself. (Matthew 22:37-40)
Some of our groups meet on campus at Buck Creek. These groups meet Sunday morning at 9:00am. Our Home Groups meets all throughout the week in different homes.
What is the purpose of our Small Groups?
The purpose of our groups is to provide each member with an Intentional Leader, to lead the group in a Relational Enviroment, to help them grow in the Discipleship Process.
How many people meet in a group?
Our desire is to keep all our groups small. This is important if life change is to take place. If the group size becomes too large, you tend to lose the intimacy of the group, and will diminish the discipleship process. Each group size is different, but ranges from 2 -18 members. Once your group reaches 18 members, it’s time to birth a new group.
Is childcare available?
We want our Home Groups to be kid friendly. We welcome children to our groups. However, we ask each group to work out details on their childcare.
How long do groups meet?
Each group varies but generally will last 1-2 hours.
What are the different types of Home Groups offered?
Right now we offer several different groups.
